(Farmaindustria EMail-Newsletter, 23.03.2012) El pasado 6 de marzo se celebró en Bruselas el kick-off del Proyecto IMI sobre la Academia Europea de Pacientes sobre Innovación Terapéutica (EUPATI en sus siglas en Inglés), que proporcionará información científica, objetiva y completa a los pacientes sobre la I+D farmacéutica. Al día siguiente se celebró la reunión de trabajo del Módulo 2 que versa sobre la creación de redes paneuropeas de relevancia para los pacientes. A esta reunión asistió Farmaindustria como miembro activo dentro de los 29 socios público-privados que a lo largo de los próximos cinco años proporcionará a los pacientes las herramientas y el conocimiento necesarios para una participación significativa y facilitar su poder de decisión en la innovación farmacéutica, la seguridad de los medicamentos y el acceso a los tratamientos.
La primera reunión pública de la Academia Europea de Pacientes sobre Innovación Terapéutica se llevará a cabo durante el DIA EuroMeeting el 27 de marzo 2012 en Copenhague. Esta primera reunión de EUPATI será una sesión de 'puertas abiertas' para todos los asistentes al DIA EuroMeeting así como para las organizaciones con sede en Dinamarca. The European Patients’ Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) project is a consortium of 29 organizations led by the European Patients' Forum and including the EORTC among others. EUPATI aims to provide scientifically reliable, objective, comprehensive information to patients on pharmaceutical research and development and increase the capacity of well-informed patients to be effective advocates and advisors, for example in clinical trials, with regulatory authorities and in ethics committees. Op 1 februari 2012 jl is onder leiding van het European Patient Forum (EPF) een consortium van start gegaan met het door IMI en de Europese Commissie gefinancierde project EUPATI. Dit consortium zal educatief materiaal, trainingen en een openbare wikipedia bibliotheek gaan ontwikkelen on vertegenwoordigers van patiënten(-organisaties) en het brede publiek te informeren en te trainen over alle processen die onderdeel zijn van medicijnontwikkeling.
