EUPATI is an informal network of patient organisations, academic representatives and pharmaceutical companies, which aims to work closely with government, regulatory authorities and other national health policy and decision-makers.
The aim of the "European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation" (EUPATI) is to provide scientifically reliable, objective, comprehensive information to patients on the research and development process of medicines. It will increase the capacity of patients and the lay public to be effective advocates and advisors, for example, in clinical trials, with regulatory authorities and in ethics committees.
To introduce national partners to EUPATI, on 11 December 2014, around 50 patient representatives, academic researchers and pharmaceutical professionals came together in Bern to discuss the current situation for patient involvement in medicines research and development. A second event was held in Lausanne on 25 March 2015 for partners in the French-speaking region.
On Wednesday 3 Feburary 2016, from 13:00-16:30, in Bern, at the Hotel Ador, the National Team will launch the EUPATI National Platform in Switzerland. The deadline for registering to attend this event is 20 January. Please complete this form to express your interest and receive further details.
Switzerland has two patient representatives taking part in the first cycle of the EUPATI patient expert training course, and the ENP hopes to work closely with these, and other patient experts, to grow the number of Swiss patient advocates, advisors and contributors. There will be many more activities organised by the ENP after the EUPATI Toolbox on Medicines R&D launches online on 27 January 2016.
