(Boletín Núm. 51, Septiembre 2012) La semana pasada se celebró en Frankfurt el I Workshop de la Academia Europea de Pacientes sobre Innovación Terapéutica (Proyecto IMI EUPATI), en el que se dieron cita más de un centenar de representantes de organizaciones de pacientes, industria farmacéutica, academia e investigadores de 24 países. En este Seminario no sólo se presentaron los primeros resultados de los siete paquetes de trabajo que conforman el Consorcio, sino que también se debatió sobre diversos temas relacionados con la I+D de nuevos medicamentos. Se establecieron los próximos pasos que se darán para conseguir los objetivos del Consorcio, y en ese sentido, cabe resaltar que España será el primer país que pondrá en marcha una plataforma nacional de EUPATI de la que formarán parte organizaciones de pacientes, representantes del ámbito científico e investigador. El resto de países conocerán la evolución de la experiencia española para poder adaptar a cada realidad nacional el formato de la plataforma nacional desarrollada en España. (EURORDIS Newsletter) “Educating patients on therapeutic innovation” is the mission of the European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation (EUPATI) – an Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) funded consortium to which EURORDIS is actively contributing. Currently the consortium consists of 29 organisations, and comprises a unique combination of pan-European patient organisations, academic institutions and EFPIA member companies. [...] EURORDIS will build on its experience and the training materials developed for its Summer School to contribute to this new initiative.  More specifically, EURORDIS is involved in the areas of content development for drug safety and risk/benefit assessment of novel and existing medicines as well as the organisation of two face-to-face training sessions, planned for 2015 and 2016. Elles fondent leur action sur l’information, la représentation, la participation et le networking avec de nombreux acteurs, dont les autorités politiques et règlementaires, les associations professionnelles et scientifiques, les prestataires de soins et les firmes bio-pharmaceutiques. C’est la raison pour laquelle les organisateurs, soucieux de favoriser les échanges d’expertise et d’expériences entre acteurs issus d’horizons très différents, avaient choisi de placer la session plénière sous le thème «The impatient patient©», un choix salué dans l’allocution d’ouverture de la ministre de la Santé, Mme Laurette Onkelinx (1). C’est donc sous la houlette de M. Jo De Cock, administrateur général de l’INAMI, que le Dr Alexandra Wyke et Mme Nicola Bedlington ont présenté les points de vue, missions et objectifs de l’association de patients PatientView et de l’European Patients’ Forum. (IMI Press Release, 7 June 2012) – The Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) has successfully launched its third wave of projects. The 7 new projects, which have a combined total cost of €215 million and will run for 5 years, are taking on some of the biggest challenges in healthcare research.
